What is eGlass?

Set up

Assembly is pretty quick and easy and requires no tools, just 8 hand-tightened screws (included) and a little room to work. A partner can be helpful - the assembled eGlass weighs about 25 pounds.

eGlass Training Series - Hardware - The 13 videos in this playlist address the entire eGlass set up experience, from unboxing to placement, connections, and lighting.

Video 3, shown here - shows the last steps of connecting your eGlass to power, a computer, and a classroom display (optional). It will also give you a good view of the assembled eGlass and possible help you determine where to place it in your classroom.

Tips/Tricks

Solid, uncluttered backgrounds work much better than busy backgrounds.

Use fluorescent markers with dark background, regular dry-erase markers for light background - but fluorescent markers and a dark background are more eye-catching.

Position the eGlass so that the wall monitor is not in view of the camera - to avoid the "infinite mirror" effect.

Consider a sliding black curtain to mask a busy background while using the eGlass.

Troubleshooting

The eGlass boards are largely trouble-free, but a couple of issues have come up in the computers that are being used to run the eGlass Fusion software:

Frozen Image - Upon launching the eGlass Fusion software, a still image is displayed and the software doesn't respond. It appears that the camera has taken a snapshot and is displaying that image. In the few instances of this issue, updating the computer has resolved it. MCPSS computers have built-in feature to update all Lenovo drivers. If running that program doesn't fix the issue, use the tools from Lenovo's technical support site (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/) to update all drivers.

If the MediaPlay feature of the eGlass Fusion software does not behave as expected when you try to take control of the selected window, updating the Windows operating system should fix the problem,

Contact your school's TST or submit a technology work order for help with either of these issues.
